March 13th

Hey, hey!

This week has been... interesting. This Tuesday we drove down to St.
George to pick up  Sisters Dunne and Kirby. That was good until we got
home and realized that for some reason our area books on our iPads
were not synced correctly so we didn't have  any information. We knew where
we lived and that was about it. We had nothing. So we went tracking
all day long and prayed that we didn't miss any appointments. I have
never been so grateful or realized the importance of the area book
till now. :)

We cover part of Kanab along with three other small towns. We have had
fun getting lost.  :)  We joke that I got transferred just in time,
because the car that I was driving that has the dent in  it just
gotten taken into the shop to get fixed. Thus the other sisters are on
bikes for a few weeks. We have been helping them out as much as
possible, so that has been fun.
We are teaching a woman named Rhonda, and she is set to be baptized on
March 25th, and she is extremely prepared. Our Ward mission leader,
Brother Roger, described her as a sponge just soaking everything up
and it was true. We are excited to be working with her!

We are also working with a man named Bill. He works here at Best
Friend (local animal refuge) and is not sure if he wants to be
baptized yet. He wants to make sure that he knows everything first,
but he is reading the Book of Mormon and striving to know. We know
that he will get there as he puts in his whole effort.

I am excited to be here in Kanab! I was sad to leave Kaibab but we are
going to have fun here!!
I love you all!!

March 6th

Hey Everyone!

This past week was really good. :) We got transfers calls
yesterday.... I am getting transferred, but just to the other stake.
So instead of being in Kiabab stake, I will just be in the Kanab
stake. My new companions name is Sister Dunn. I don't know much more
than that. :) Sister Lola is staying in the Kiabab stake and Sister
Kirby is going to be her companion. Haha, we were sure that Sister
Lola was going to get transferred! This will be her 5th one here in
Kanab!

My new address is
P.O. #302
Kanab, UT 84741

We knocked a lot doors this week. Not a lot doors got opened to us,
but we tried and that is what counts! We did have an interesting
experience on Sunday. We were walking ( in the wind and boy was it
blowing hard, we couldn't see anything because our hair was in our
faces.) and this guy walked up to us and preceded to tell us that he
was not a member, but that he had meet with missionaries in Cedar and
Idaho and that he wanted to continue to! So that was exciting! Sister
Lola and Sister Kirby will meet with him this Wednesday.

We are going to have to make a trip down to St. George tomorrow to
pick up our new companions. I am not looking forward to that as it
takes up a good chunk of the day, but it will good. I am glad that I
won't have to deal with Arizona time vs Utah time next week, like
Sisters Lola and Kirby will. Haha, not fun at all for them. I will
cover up right up to the border of our mission. :)

I hope each of you have a great week!!! I love you!

February 27, 2017

Hey everyone!! :)

This past week was really good. We went on exchanges and I got to go
with Sister Dunbar again! That was a lot of fun. That is twice in a
row that my STL's have been past sisters that I have worked with,
which makes it a lot of fun. :)

We saw so many miracles this week. We were trying our hardest to hit
the weekly goal set by the mission, which is something that President
Smith wants to see happening more. We missed it by one! (We didn't put
anybody on date for baptism this week...) but there were so many
miracles as we amped up our game.

One of the miracles was Austin. Last Monday we ran were sharing lunch
with one of the members here, and she gave us a referral for a young
boy who came to church every week with his grandparents, but she
didn't think was baptized. Turns out, they are not his grandparents,
just family friends, and Austin does come every week and wants to be
baptized. So we went over and talked with his mom, who said that we
could teach him. As part of our weekly goal we needed to get one new
person to church, and we were going to count Austin so we thought, two
birds with one stone. Austin was sick on Sunday. We didn't think we
were going to hit that goal... but then about half way through
sacrament meeting we turned around and there was someone we were
teaching! We had no clue they were going to come, last time we talked
they weren't going to be able to, but there they were!  The Lord is
going to help us do what we need to do. He is going to aid us.
Miracles happen in his work. :)

Anyway, so Sister Lola and I are both determined to hit our goals for
this week, as this will most likely be our last week together.
Transfers will happen not this Tuesday but next Tuesday so we will see
what will happen. It will be interesting that is for sure!

I love you all!!

Sister Waite and Sister Lola were able to find the house my family lived in from 1981 until 1986. Sister Lola said that Julia was super excited when they found it.  It has changed a lot since I lived there.

Happy President's Day

Hey Everyone!! :)

This past week has been great!

Satoria got baptized on Saturday. :) It was really wonderful to see it
happen. Sister Smith came down and went to our baptisms, so that was
exciting and stressful. :) But there really is such a unique spirit at
a baptism. I didn't recognize it before, but it is there. I may or may
not have shared this before but our mission President told us that 80%
of non-members who attend a baptism are later are baptized.  There
really is such a sprit about baptisms! :)

On a less happy note, Jeff, who were working with out in Cane Beds
texted yesterday to say that he didn't want to meet with us for the
next couple of weeks, but that he was going to read the Book of
Mormon. So that was disappointing, but if he does read then it will
all work out. The Book of Mormon has a lot of power in it!!

We had a miracle yesterday. Our Ward mission leader in Fredonia 2nd
Ward had asked us to check up on someone, but we had no address and he
didn't know where he lived, so that was kind of difficult. But we were
tracking and the first door we knocked on, the boy who we were looking for answered!  He wasn't interested, but the Lord provided for a chance for us to ask!

Thanks for everything that you guys do! I love you all!!

Nicholas Cage Story

So I don't really know the story, maybe I will hear it in tomorrow's email, but Julia met Nicholas Cage in the grocery store in Kanab.  She was able to take a selfie with him and Sister Lola.  The other Sisters serving in Kanab also ran into him and took a picture.  Here is the email that Julia sent to Rebecca and the picture.  I'll also post the other sisters picture just for fun.

So... guess who we ran into while we were out shopping this morning... Nicholas Cage. Not the person I would have chosen to meet... He is kind of grumpy. Hahha, we took a picture with him and he look at his weird smile.  image1.JPG
Anyway, he is making a movie here in Kanab... Again. He was slightly strange.

February 13, 2017

Hey, everybody! :)

Last Monday a family whom we have been working with took us sledding,
and it was Sister Lola's first time. Her first time down she was flung
off her sled did a face plant in the snow but she got up smiling and
laughing. It was pretty funny. :)

This past week was pretty awesome. We were able to teach a man named
Jeff. He is from Texas, but lately his family and him have felt that
they needed to get out of the city and somewhere where they could
provide for themselves and long story short they ended up in Cane
Beds, Arizona. He is so prepared for the gospel. :) We were going to
teach him last week but he was sick, so this was the week. He took
everything we had to share pretty well and promised us that he would
have the introduction and testimonies read by time we came back as
well as that he would pray about it. We are excited to go back this
Wednesday and see how it went.

We also have continued working with Satoria. Her baptism is still on
for this Saturday so we are pretty excited about that. She is such a
cute little girl.

We also went back to see Carolynn this week. She isn't someone who is
ready for baptism yet but we stop by every now and then just to see
how she is doing. This week she was telling us how there is just
something different about the people. She couldn't quite put her
finger on it, but there was something different about us. Well, we
knew what it was!  If only we could get her to see that...  Members of
the church do have a light about them. We may not be able to see it,
but others can.

I love you all!! I hope you have a fantastic week!

Feb 6, 207

Hey everyone! :)

We have been busy this week, and next week looks even busier! But we
are excited about that. :)

Last night we saw Satoria, which is always fun. But it turns out over
the past week or so, she and her brother Oliver have read the whole
Book of Mormon Stories that we left them! That was exciting to hear.
We challenged her to keep reading it and hopefully she will.

Yesterday we also got to see Finley and her sister Cashlynn which is
really good because we hadn't been able to see them all week for one
reason or another. It is so fun to teach them and work with them.
Haha, we were teaching them about tithing, and we use M&M to help teach
it. At one point in the lesson it involves M&Ms being dumped out to
show the blessings of paying our tithing, and it was way cute. Their
eyes just light up and Cashlynn got really excited and asked us  if
they 'Can pay tithing to?!'  We assured that she could and in fact we
were greatly encouraging her to do it. :)

This past Thursday we also had zone Conference, plus interviews for
the Kanab and Kaibab sisters because we live out in the boonies. It
was really good, but afterwards our senior couple (who we rode up
with) took us back through Zions National park. That was fun to see
again and Sister Lola loved it a lot.  This was her first time going
there and even though we didn't stop and do any of the hikes (because
it wasn't P-Day) she kept requesting that Elder Robinson stop and just
leave her there. I attached the pictures of the selfie that we took in
the car. :)

I love you all!!
